Yesterday, I volunteered on behalf of my Rotary club of Newport-Irvine at the Irvine Senior Center for the annual Seniors Job Fair. Over 700 Seniors and Veterans attended the event in search of jobs, opportunities, volunteer positions and networking. Many were disappointed by the few available opportunities. Many are looking for some work, any work in this current economy. Many were getting paid unemployment, and are looking to extend their benefits for a second or third term. Many are looking to make their next mortgage payment. Listening to these seniors' and veterans' stories was moving and unbelievable, and I decided to do something about this...and launch SenVet social network.
